Jacques Tephany - France

 

Playwright, dramaturge, editor and university professor.

Chaired the French Centre of Theatre (IIT/UNESCO).

Director of the Jean Villar/ Maison Jean Villar,Avignon.

Director of the Independent  Dramatic company in (1996).

 Found a theatrical troupe in 1974 which presented several plays and obtained 3  ‘Molieres’.

Appointed in many high rank posts some French theatrical foundations in addition to the membership of several theatrical centers.

Professor of Theatre Arts – University of Avignon.

Wrote 15 plays and some novels.

Won a ‘Moliere’ for his play’ Le Trou du rat’,

                                                           

 

 

Ahmad Sakhsouskh- Egypt

 

Obtained his PhD in drama from Vienna University.

Chaired the Department of Drama, appointed as Deputy of the High Institute of Theatrical Arts , Then the Dean of the High Institute of Theatrical Arts .

Eminent playwright who enriched the Egyptian theatre with his creativity.

Wrote more than 40 books in the field of theatrical studies and translation.

Won several medals, prizes ,among which is the State Award of Excellence in Literature in 2008.

 

 

 Gabriela Cenuser  Panczel  Romania

 

Playwright, critic and prose writer.

 Ph.D. degree in Theatre( National Theatre and Film University, Bucharest,2000)

Senior researcher in the Institute of Socio-Human Researches - The Romanian Academy.

Contributed in writing, criticism, teaching , and participating in scientific conferences, festivals, co-founding of several theatrical foundations, and cultural projects.

Founding  Member and Cultural Manager of ’Lobbyart’ Foundation.

Published several books, articles throughout the last three decades, among which are: ‘The Absurd-Confluences and Theatrical Landmarks’(2000), ‘The Tribune’(20002), ‘Fifty years of Performances at the Sibui Theatre’, ‘Creative Writing in the Sibui Tribune’(2000-2004), ‘Octavian Goga’s Plays’.

Among her most famous plays are :‘Grand Hotel’, ‘Three Plays for Another World’, and ‘Shakespeare’s in Love (2004). 

 

 

 

Gregory F. Mehrten- America

 

Playwright, director, actor, translator and adaptor.

Studied Theatre Arts/Directing and graduated from University of California.

Obtained a certificate in German to English Translation, New York University.

Received two OBIE Awards; one for Performance (Lear) and another for Sustained Achievement (Mabou Mines).

Awarded with a Maharam Award for Design ( Mabou Mines).

 Villager Downtown Theatre Award (Best Ensemble).

Directed many successful plays, among which are: ‘Pretty Boy’, ‘Jungle Fever’ and ‘Round 2’.

Performed in several plays such as ‘Room For Cream’, ‘A Fable’ ‘Hello School’, ‘Lear’ and in cinema he played different roles, among which are: ‘Charming Augustine’, ‘Philadelphia’, ‘The Ideoplastic Materializations of Eva C.’ and ‘Dead End Kids’.

 

Renalto Nicolini          (Italy)

 

Actor, writer, and theatrical director.

Italian high ranking official.

Despite his excessive cultural responsibilities through which he contributed to enrich the Theatrical Cultural Movement, he has been carrying on thriving creativity through acting, directing, and writing.

Former Deputy in the Italian Parliament from 1983-1994.

Head of Board of the cultural activities of the city of Rome from  1976-1995.

Responsible for coordinating arts in 1988, and counselor of the city of Rome from 1976-1995.

Commissary of the ‘Abruzzo Permanent Theatre from 1996-2001.

Vice – President of the Festival of the Two Worlds in Spolete from `1989-1996.

Artistic Director of the Theatre of Voltaire from 1987-1988.

Pioneer in the realm of contemporary Experimental Theatre.

Made his debut with the Living Theatre in 1976.

 Wrote several plays and directed more than fifteen theatrical performances.

Invited to participate in:

*The Magna Grecia Theatre.

* The Benevento International Festival on University Theatres.

* Theatre of The Universe.

 

 Rodolfo Obregon- Mexico

Theatre Director, writer and a translator.

Director of the National Centre of Theatrical research.

Studied Theatre Arts in  Mexico University(1983-1985) and in The National Laboratory of Arts in Florence –Italy (1989) .

Studied Theatrical Directing and received his education on the hands of distinguished professors of  Contemporary Theatre like Ludwik Margules(1990),  Eugenio Barba , and  Haral Clemen Y Yoshi Oida.

Professor of the Contemporary Theatre Forum ( 1993-2005) in Argos/Gasa Azul (since 2006).

Editor in chief of ‘Repertorio’ magazine (1990-1995), worked in ‘Proceso’ magazine (1999-2003) and currently a member in the editing committee of ‘Paso de Gato’ magazine.

Directed more than 25 plays in addition to his operatic work

One of his most important plays are: ‘The Late Utopia ’(2003) and ‘Ludwick Margules,memorias’.

Translated many books and published several articles, and  reviews in international magazines and newspapers in Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, France, and America.

A jury member in the UNESCO price  for the Performing Arts.

 

 

 Francine Alepin-   Canada

Director, actress, mime performer, movement analyst and university professor.

Specialized in physical theatre since a quarter of a century, and devoted her life to creative work.

Professor of Drama –University of Quebec-Montreal 1999.

Certified Movement Analyst –University of Quebec-Montreal.

Taught ‘Acting and Gestures’ in Omnibus since 1986, and in ‘The Superior School of Theatre of L’UQAM since 2005.

Directed some plays in Spain, France, and Mexico with special attention to the anthropology of gesture.

Directed several successful plays, among which are: ‘Le Probleme Avec Moi’(The Problem With Me), ‘La Barronne Et La Truie’ ( The Baroness and The Pig) , ( Intimacy) (2004-2005), ‘Latitutes Croisees’  (Cross Latitudes)(2002-2003), ‘Blue Heart’(2006), ‘L’ Illiade D’Homere ( Homer’s The Iliad).

Acted in many plays among which are : ‘Le Probleme Avec Moi’, L’Intimite’.

Performed in several countries all over the world. Her latest performances were presented in Syria, Mexico and Quebec.

Enriched theatrical art with her workshops, symposia and conferences held in several places like ‘The National Centre of Arts’, University of Quebec ,  The Institute of Theatrical Arts in Syria, and the Mime Festival in Mexico.

 

 

Fouad Al Shatty-  Kuwait

Eminent theatrical director.

Studied theatre in Kuwait, Media in the United States of America , TV directing in Braque

Started his career by joining The Arab Theatre Group in 1963, started his theatrical career and was in charge of several artistic and administrative responsibilities ,among which are: Vice -President of the Union of the  Arab Men  of Letters, Vice -President of the General Union of The Arab Artists.

Founder of the Kuwaiti and the Regional Centre of the World Organization of Theatre.

Currently, he is the president of the Board of the Kuwaiti and the Regional Centre of the World Organization of Theatre.

Director of the Festival of Kuwaiti Theatre for three successive sessions (2000,2002,2003).

Directed several TV programmes and dramas in the late sixties.

Directed many plays, among which are :  ‘Sultan Lil Be’e’ , ‘Dar’, Mourahek FE Al Khamsin’, ‘Al Qadeyya Khareg Al Malaf’’and Rehlet Hanzala.

Contributed in many artistic occasions, Arab and International festivals as a member and chair.

Won many prestigious awards from many groups for his contribution to theatre and his plays, such as The State Incentive Prize in Kuwait in 1989 and was honoured in Italy in1989,

Won the Best Directing Award  in the  Day of the Arab Theatre in 1980.

 

 

Korobova Liudmila-  Russia

 

Graduated from the St- Petersburg Academy of Theatrical Art.

Deputy Artistic Director of Tovstonogov Russian State Bolshoi Drama Theatre ( BDT).

Lead four experimental theatres, Studio theatre and an international one.

Organized the Author’s Festival from 1996 to 1999.

Participated in the organization of the International Festival of Youth Theatre from 2000 to 2002.

Organized a number of conferences on Modern European Dramatic Arts   from 2003 to 2008 and another conference on ‘Ibsen and World Culture’ in 2008.

 

 

 

  Hans-Werner Kroesinger-  Germany

Author and theatrical director.

Worked as assistant director and dramaturge with Robert Wilson and Heiner Muller.

Specialized in Applied Theatre Studies.

His plays are based on documents with focus on political conflicts i.e ‘Q&A-Questions and Answers’, ’Primetime- Suicide Bombers’, ’Herero 100’,and ‘Beirut Report’.

Directed contemporary music theatre.

Author and director in Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich, Dusseldorf, Kassel, Paris, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Dallas and others.

Awarded the Bruder Grimm-Award for his play ’Kindertransporte’ in 2007

 

 

 William Huizhu Sun-   China

 

Playwright, director, and university professor.

Vice-president of Shanghi Theatre Academy.

Director of the Asia Pacific Bureau of UNESCO and Chair of ITI for Theatre Schools.

Earned his M.A in literature, Shanghai Theatre Academy, 1981; MA in Humanities, State University of New York,1985 and PhD in performance Studies , University of New York,1990

His major interests include: social performance studies, intercultural theatre, theatre narratology .

Recent publications include The Fourth Wall: Theatre in Construction  and Deconstruction 2006, Whose Madam Butterfly: Conflicts on Stage and Clash of Civilizations.

Wrote several plays, among which are: ‘The Old B Hanging on the Wall’.

Directed many plays such as ‘Caucasian Chalk Circle’, ‘Medea’, ‘Line’, ‘The Visit’ and Beijing opera style ‘Othello’.
