-  A writer and a theatre, TV, and radio actress.

-  Got an M.A in Modern Literature from La Sorbonne.

- Played the leading roles in several plays such as: “Les Caprices de Marianne”, “ Surena”,  “ Le Defunt”, “ Coeur a Deux”, “ La Cenaire”, “ Alice”, “Vortex”, “Marathon”, “La Visite de la Vieille Dame” and “Hamlet”.

-  Participated in a lot of TV. Works like: “Les Voyageurs de L’Histoire”, “Adieu, Mon fils”, and “ ma Fille, cette Inconnue”. She also starred a number of movies such as: “New yourk 1935”, ‘La Vie Moderne”, and “Le Frere du Gurrier”. For the radio, she presented “Voltaier”, “Histoires in Direct”, “Le Retour” and many others.

- Wrote a large number of theatre and radio works.

The name of Amina Rezq

((Egypt))

 

-  One of the greatest and most prominent Egyptian theatre and movie stars.

-   The heroine of Ramses Theatre Company and star of the Egyptian National Theatre for several years.

-   Born in Tanta, then she moved to Cairo, lived at Rawd El-Farag where a lot of casinos were there in the early 1920s presenting various performances and folk concerts. She used to go frequently and see such works of art.

-    In 1924, she was selected by the great Egyptian artist Youssef Wahby to get a training course in acting with his company, “Ramses Theatre”. In the same year, she played her first role, i.e ‘the paralyzed child’ in Rasbotin’. But within a few years, she got to be the heroine of all the plays presented by the company such as: “kids of the poor” , “Greed” , “Othello” , “Great Love” , “Hamlet” , and “The green Table”.

-  Took part in a lot of movies in which she used to play the roles of the affectionate mother and the faithful wife. Amongst suchfilms are: “The External Glory” , “God’s Hand” , “Les Miserables “ and “I Need a Solution”.

-   Being one of Egypt’s distinguished artists, she was appointed to the Shura Council.

-      Passed away a few days ago after 93 years of being devoted to the art of acting.

   Anerew Mckinnon

     ((England))

 

 

- director and producer in professional theatre throughout the UK since the mid. 1970. A major part of his career has been devoted to the artistic direction of the UK regional theatre companies.

-   Born and educated in Glasgow, but his activities have invaded the greatest English theatres.

-         In recent years, he has turned his attention to questions of professional training and allied live art forms. He has designed and written higher courses in the performing arts for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow University, St. Andrew University and London University.

- An expert on the training and teaching of directors in the UK Europe, and the USA.

- Has a particular connection with the European Directors Forums, and has written and edited reports on their proceedings.

- Involved in the development of emerging professional directors, theatre makr’s and creative producers across Europe and beyond.

-  Currently, he is developing a new project with a Dutch actor, Herman Van Baer, for production in 2003.

        Patrizia Vistarini

           ((Italy))

 

-  One of the most renowned actresses in the Italian experimental theatre.

-  Attend dramatic courses in Italy and graduated from the Actor’s Studios of New York and Los Angeles.

-   For the theatre, she worked with many avant-garde directors such as Salvo Bitonti in “Phedra in a Cortemporary Contest”, Giancarlo cobell: (in the experimental adaptatian of “ The Merchant of Venice”, and Andrea Camilleri who is one of the most famous Italian writers and directors.

- Participated in a lot of musical plays.

- Directed an experimental performance: “Not Yet classified phemomena” that was highly appreciated by the critics.

Played the leading parts in six movies directed by well-known film directors and in eleven TV theatre programs that gave her a great popularity, but she preferred to work for experimental theatre

    Jesus Campos Garcia

      ((Spain))

- A Writer, producer, scenographer, and an active member in a lot of cultural and artistic organizations and institutions.

- Amaongest his published works are: “Nacimiento, passion y muerte  de…por ejemplo tu” (1974), “7000 gallinas Y un camello” (1983), “Mis 100 peores poesias” (1989), “La cabeza del Diablo” (1999) and “de transitos” (2002).

- Designed the stenography of all his plays.

- Conducted numerous  workshops and courses such as a translation course at the University of Granade (1975), another course on theatre-writing (1984) and a workshop on writing also at the “Home of America” (2002).

-Occupied several posts like a founding member of the ECRIT, that is concerned with criticism, a member of the Supreme Council of Theatre and Chairman of the Playwrights’ Society.

- Won many prizes such as the Premio Ciudad de Tervel (1972), Premio Lope de vega (1974) for his work “1000 gallinas y un canello, and the Madrid Society award” (1997).

      Roberta Levitow

       (U.S.A)

 

- A writer, director, producer, and professor of theatre.

-  Graduated from Stanford University, CA in 1972 after gtting a B.A. in drama.

-  Worked as an instructor and professor of drama at several universities and educational institutions such as: Bellevue Community College, Bainbridge performing Arts, University of California, she has been a professor at Bennington College.

-  Took part in many international theatre festivals such as Helsenki and she conducted a number of workshops in East Africa, definitely in Kenya and Tanzania.

-  Directed numerous plays such as: “Kaspar”, “Les Belles Soeurs”, “Little Egypt” and “Waiting for Godot”.

-   Directed and co-producal a lot of movies, TV. and radio works; amongst those creative works are; “Animals are Beautiful People” (1973), “Fat Albert” (1974), and “On Screen: Women in Film Festival” (1992).

- Wrote several books and articles like: “Women in Theatre Seek Their Due” and “The Theatre, the Film and the Critic”.

-  Won such awards as Alon Schneider Award for Directing Excellence (1990) and got a special mention in “Who’s who in the World” in 2000.

       Shekeeb Khoury

- A prominent theatre director and professor of drama.

- Studied at the Royal Academy of Drama, London and got its diploma in 1954. he obtained also a Ph.D in literature from the University of Paris. Then, he used to join courses in art and culture in Europe.

-  Created a number of plays. He also directed several theatrical performances, TV series and radio works for the BBC and the Lebanese Radio.

-  Produced and directed many plays based upon world literary texts such as “Waiting for Godot” (1967) and “Animal Farm” (1971).

- Amongst the works he wrote are a book entitled “Le Theatre arabe de L’Absurde” (1978), “Death Rejoice” (a collection of poems), and the novel “Wrinkles of Dreams,”. He also created such plays as “cabaret” (1972), “Rabbits and Saints” (1989), and “Longing Ports” (1999).

-  Occupied such posts as Chairman of the ITI-Lebanon and Head of the Department of Drama and Directing at the Lebanese Radio. He also taught at the University of Paris, the Lebanese American University and the American University in Beirut.

- Won several prizes; amongst them are: the Best Theatrical Research Award from the Casablanca International Theatre Festival (1993) and the Grand Prix from Carthage Days (1993) and both were for his play “Rabbits and Saints”.

      Krzysztof Lakomic

         (Poland)

 

- One of the most prominent theate actors in Poland.

- Studied the art of acting at the Governmental Academy of Theatre which bears the name of the Polish pioneering artist “Ludwik Solsk”. He graduated from it in 1984.

-  In 1985, he co-founded one of the most important experimental avant-grade theatre groups in Poland; it is “Teatre Witkey” at the city of Zaopane.

-  Currently, he is regarded the superstar of “Teatr Witkacy”; he has been playing the leading roles in the repertoire of the troupe for 20 years. He contributes also to the artistic direction of the theatre.

- Amongst the plays he has played are: “Dr. Faust’s Bio” (1986), “The Great Scientist” (1986), “Liberation.. Again!” (1992), “Tartuf” (1997), Macbeth (1997), and “Who fears Virginia Woolf” (2002).

- Obtained several such as: the Best Actor Award for his role in “Dr. Faust’s Bio” from The International Theatrical Week Forum for the Avant-Garde Theatre (1989) in addition to other awards that he got from a number of festivals held throughout Europe.
